A few strums of the guitar is how it begins… cue husky voice “Wake me up when September ends…” Yes, Green Day put it perfectly. The carefree haze of August holidays are over, and suddenly September is standing in the doorway like a headteacher with a clipboard.
We’ve noticed it too: clients bouncing back into our inboxes, suntans still glowing, but with a growing list of HR "can i just run this past you's" that clearly didn’t get packed in their suitcase. Absences, grievances, policy questions, employee relations panics - all rising like a tide, as if they had politely waited until September to make their grand re-entry.
And yet, we at Silver Star HR did try to warn you. Back in the summer, we dubbed August the “new January” – a golden window for planning, clearing the decks, and getting your HR neatly stacked in a row (the evidence is all over our website, we promise we’re not just saying this with smug hindsight).
But fear not! (bellowed in a Shakespearean tone), if your August looked more like sangria than spreadsheets, you’re not alone.
September is traditionally a “back to school” month, and in many organisations, it’s also “back to business.” That means HR challenges that were snoozing happily in the sun are now wide awake.
But despair not! Just like the song, this too shall pass. And unlike Green Day, we won’t leave you waiting until September ends to sort things out.
So let’s do this together. Whether it’s revisiting policies, brushing up on compliance, or finally tackling that tricky employee relations issue you’ve been politely ignoring, we’re here to sing along with you. Think of us as the bassline to your HR rock anthem – steady, reliable, and guaranteed to drown out the off-key bits.
So yes, September has arrived with its urgency and full inbox. But with the right plan (and a little help from Silver Star HR), it doesn’t have to feel like a drama. Instead, it can be the month your workplace really hits its stride.
Silver Star HR. Not just HR experts, but HR Rockstars (for the purposes of this article anyhow).
...............Now… hands up, who’s still humming Green Day?
